Sure, you can have a party without 7-Layer Dip. But the question is, why would you want to? Everyone loves this party favorite and it’s so darn easy to make! It’s quick enough to throw together for a last minute gathering with the neighbors and it’s filling enough that if you wanted to call it dinner, I wouldn’t judge. I would suggest pairing it with my easy Baked Tortilla Chips for extra deliciousness, though!

Once you build your refried bean base, the magic of a 7-layer dip is simple, fresh ingredients. Creamy cheese, crisp tomatoes and green onions, salty olives and of course, fresh guacamole and salsa. You can use pre-made guac from your grocery store or make it from scratch (my Best Blender Guacamole can be ready in a matter of minutes!). Same goes for salsa! Use your favorite grocery store brand or try my Easy Homemade Salsa – it’s super simple and fresh.

What Do I Need to Make 7-Layer Dip?

  • Refried beans
  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream
  • Taco seasoning mix
  • Chunky tomato salsa
  • Monterey jack and cheddar cheese
  • Chopped black ripe olives
  • Green onions, chopped
  • Cherry tomatoes

How to Make 7-Layer Dip

  • First, spread refried beans in an even layer in the bottom of a medium-sized glass serving dish or bowl. Then top with a layer of guacamole.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream and 2 tablespoons taco seasoning, mix until well combined. Spread in an even layer on top of the guacamole layer. Top with a layer of salsa.
  • Sprinkle the cheese over the salsa layer and then the can of chopped black olives over the cheese.

  • Next, sprinkle the chopped green onions over the chopped olives and garnish the top of the layered dip with the quartered cherry tomatoes. Serve with tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can refried beans
  • 1 ½ cups prepared guacamole
  • 1 ½ cups sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup chunky tomato salsa
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey jack and cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (4.25 ounce) can chopped black ripe olives, drained
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped, divided
  • 6 cherry tomatoes, quartered

Instructions

  1. Spread refried beans in an even layer in the bottom of a medium-sized glass serving dish or bowl. Top with a layer of guacamole.
