Start by preheating your oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and set a baking rack into the pan. Spray the baking rack generously with non-stick cooking spray.

Using long strips of bacon (I use the uncured dry rubbed bacon from Trader Joe’s), form each slice into the shape of a heart by folding it in half and then folding the ends in so they curve to look like a heart.

Pinch the two ends together within the heart and also pinch the bottom of the heart shape together so it stays pointed.

Place the bacon in the oven for just 2-3 minutes to soften it a bit. Using an oven mit, remove the pan of bacon from the oven and reinforce the heart shape on any bacon hearts that need reinforcing so they keep the heart shape as the continue to bake. The bacon shouldn’t be too hot at this point so you should be able to easily reinforce the shape with your fingers.

Return the bacon to the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until of desired crispness. Rotate the pan halfway through the baking time so the bacon hearts bake evenly.

And that’s all there is to it! Serve it immediately or keep in a warming oven until ready to serve. The bacon should be crisp enough to hold its shape very well when transferred and picked up to eat.

    1. Hi Betsy! I have a quite a collection of heart dishes from over the years that I have gotten from Target, Sur La Table, World Market, Crate & Barrel, Central Market and Williams Sonoma. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

  1. I think you have enough Valentine’s ideas to publish a book on them. Perhaps you can write 4 more books-one for each season and include the holidays for that season-and fill each book with all of these cool ideas.

    1. Haha! Thanks, Carol! I couldn’t contain myself this Valentine’s season. So many fun and yummy ideas! And to think, I didn’t even get around to sharing them all. There’s always next year, right? Continue to enjoy!
