An Easy Ice Cream Pie They’ll LOVE

The crust of the pie is a layer of crushed Oreos that have been mixed together with whipped topping. Then comes a layer of vanilla ice cream followed by a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup and sprinkling of chopped pecans. You can use homemade ice cream if you want, but I definitely store bought ice cream.

And you’ll just repeat all of those yummy layers one more time in a springform pan like this one or this one  to complete the pie before placing it in the freezer for at least 3 hours. It’s almost too easy to believe and too darn yummy to be true.

    1. Hi Kate! You can use any equivalent size pan and just cut it right out of the pan. The nice thing about the spring-form pan is that you can remove the sides of the pan to slice it. Otherwise, any pan will do. Enjoy!

  1. I made this for Easter using Frozen Custard from a local business and it was so delicious. Now getting request for it for all special occasions. Really want to try it with regular ice cream. Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

  2. Looks very easy! I want to make this Oreo Ice Cream Pie but without using nuts. And tucked it in the freezer as my dessert inventory. Thank you very much!

    1. Hi Mari! Yes, it should always be stored in the freezer except when serving since it’s made with ice cream. Enjoy!

  3. This is so good!! I have made it about 5 different times now. My husband requests it for every birthday we have in our house. 🙂 So easy and so good!

  4. Thanks Maegan, I might just split the difference here: do the cookie crust you suggested on the bottom and go ahead and mix the second Oreo layer with Cool Whip. That way it would have the fluffy texture without the Cool Whip being so prominent. Thank you for your help.

  5. Our family is not a huge fan of Cool Whip. Would it be possible to make this with real whipped cream or do you think it might not freeze correctly and break down? Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Ro! I think real whipped cream would break down and/or be icy when frozen. You could try just mixing the crushed Oreos with melted butter so they come together to create the layers, similar to a chocolate cookie crust. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Vanessa! It’s similar to whipped cream. The brand I use is Cool Whip here in the US. It’s sold in the freezer section and then thawed before using. Hope this helps and hope you’re able to find it or make it. Enjoy!

  6. […] for dessert, even if your guests are full they’re gonna loosen their belts for these guys- oreo ice cream pie, vanilla peanut ice cream pie dressed with caramel sauce, grasshopper ice cream pie, peanut butter […]

  7. Hi Maegan-
Thanks! Who would want to waste that frosting?? I’m sure it will only make the crust more delicious! Have a wonderful holiday season.
    Lynn

  8. Do you remove the cream filling/frosting from the Oreos before you crush them? I’m going to make a peppermint ice cream pie for Thanksgiving dinner, and your chocolate crust looks perfect. I also plan to try making your delicious looking Oreo pie sometime soon!

  9. How do you crush the oreos? Food processor? About how big should the crumbs be? Totally fine or with some chunks left in?

    1. Hi Lorrie! Great question! I just put them in a large resealable baggie and crush them with the back of a wooden spoon. Mostly fine crumbs, with some little chunks as well. Hope this helps! Enjoy!

  10. Wondering if you could use a regular round pan with this too? Or a disposable round pan? This looks yummy!!! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Cynthia! You certainly can. I would recommend lining it with plastic wrap or foil so you can lift it out if you want to slice and serve on a platter. Otherwise, just slice it right out of the pan. Enjoy!

  11. This looks so yummy…My husband can’t have chocolate so I’m thinking about doing this with the vanilla oreo cookies and strawberry ice cream.

  12. OH. MY. HEAVENS. This looks amazing! I love Oreo anything and I’m pretty sure I could eat this whole entire ice cream pie by myself. YUM!
