These cute Mini Cinnamon Rolls are one of my favorite canned cinnamon roll hacks. They are so great to make for a crowd or when you just need a little cinnamon roll to satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of a savory breakfast. I most recently made these when my cookbooks and boards were featured on The TODAY Show! It was such an exciting day at our house.

To celebrate, I made a Mini Muffin and Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Board to share the fun of the morning with my family and team. You’ll also see these yummy little bites featured in the Continental Breakfast spread (page 21) in my Spectacular Spreads cookbook. These small bites bring such big fun to your family time together!

What do I need to Make Mini Cinnamon Rolls?

This mini cinnamon roll recipe is so easy. In 30 minutes or less, you can have these delicious tiny twists to make big breakfast fun. You’ll need:

  • Canned Jumbo Cinnamon Rolls – they must be the LARGE SIZE canned cinnamon rolls that you can unroll. These regular-size cinnamon rolls will NOT work for this recipe! Any brand like Pillsbury Grands!, Annie’s Organic, Trader Joe’s Jumbo or other store brand cinnamon rolls should work great, just as long as they’re the jumbo size. See the image below for how they should look. Some versions come with a basic icing and some have a cream cheese icing. Either of these will be delicious so just get the can with the icing that you will enjoy most!
  • Mini Muffin Pan – A mini muffin tin is what helps the mini cinnamon rolls keep their shape. This recipe makes 20 mini rolls so you’ll only use 20 of the cups within the pan. My mini muffin pan is non-stick.
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spraycooking spray is only necessary if you’re using a regular mini muffin pan that is not non-stick. There is no need to use cooking spray if you’re using a non-stick mini muffin pan, just fill the pan with the mini cinnamon rolls and bake! If you’re making them for a party and want them to be transportable and easily held to enjoy, you could bake them in mini muffin liners.

How to Make Mini Cinnamon Rolls

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. If you’re not using a non-stick mini muffin pan, spray a regular mini muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. On a large cutting board, unwind each roll and cut it into four equal-sized strips, each about 4 inches long. You should have 20 smaller strips to make 20 mini cinnamon rolls total.
  3. Re-roll each smaller strip of dough back up into a small spiral and place it in a prepared mini muffin cup. Repeat with remaining strips.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, rotating pan halfway through the baking time, until the tops of each roll are golden.
  5. Remove from the oven, place on a cooling rack and drizzle with the icing, that comes with the canned cinnamon rolls, while still warm.

How to Serve and Store Mini Cinnamon Rolls

Serve them warm or at room temperature. To reheat, microwave for a few seconds at a time. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

How to freeze: Allow them to cool completely. I recommend wrapping them individually in plastic wrap then putting in a freezer-safe container or in individual freezer-safe baggies. To defrost them, let set at room temperature, uncovered, so they don’t absorb too much of the moisture.
