A Build-Your-Own Waffle Board with all the toppings to choose from is a fabulous and fun way to serve breakfast, brunch or brinner!

Build-Your-Own Waffle Board by The BakerMama

Board meals are our favorite meals and breakfast for dinner (aka brinner!) is one of our weeknight regulars, so this Build-Your-Own Waffle Board makes an appearance quite often at our dining table. We’ll also make it for breakfast or brunch on the weekend. The excitement that brews as we’re building this board and the enjoyment that we all experience as we’re eating off of it is truly the best!

Watch Me Make a Waffle Board

Join me in the kitchen as I make a fun and fabulous waffle board for brunch!

Mix it Up!

And since we have it so often, it’s also fun to mix up. While my Classic Crispy Waffles are such a perfect waffle for a Build-Your-Own Waffle Board, sometimes I’ll go with French Toast Waffle Sticks, or Blueberry Cake Waffles for some added variety with still lots of yum. Occasionally, we’ll add scrambled eggs, sunny-side-up eggs or egg bites to the board for a good protein option.

We also enjoy mixing up the toppings. Of course, butter and maple syrup are a must have on a waffle board. Some of our other favorite toppings are fresh fruit, peanut butter, Nutella, honey, pecans, chocolate chips and whipped cream.

How would you top your perfect waffle?! I love peanut butter on my waffles so I usually go with peanut butter and then banana, nuts and a drizzle of honey on one and maybe strawberries and chocolate chips on the other.

On a recent Waffle Wednesday board I made for brinner, I put some Baked Crispy Chicken Tenders and sunny-side-up eggs on it. They were both was a huge hit! I topped one of my waffles with butter, chicken, maple syrup, a runny egg and hot sauce. Oh my yum!

How to Build the Waffle Board

Let me walk you through how easy it is to build this board…

Start by washing and slicing the fruit to have it ready to put on the board first. I also set the butter out at this time.

Next make the bacon. This baked bacon recipe is our favorite way to make bacon. It’s so easy, turns out perfectly crispy every time, and clean-up is such a breeze!

While the bacon is baking, make the waffles. This waffle iron makes such perfectly crisp waffles every time! We’ve had it for almost 15 years and it’s held up to lots of weekly use. We love it!

When the bacon is finished baking, turn the oven down to 200°F. Keep the cooked waffles and baked bacon in the warm oven while you arrange everything on the board. Some of my favorite boards to use for a build-your-own board are this 24” x 18” wood board and this 20″ round board.

The serving bowls I use most often are from Target and the mason jars are from Amazon. I also use a gravy boat often for the maple syrup because it’s great to heat the syrup up in the microwave in and easy to pour the syrup onto our waffles with.

Put the bowls of fruit and other toppings on the board first.

Warm the maple syrup and peanut butter in the microwave. I have found that heating the peanut butter for about 15 seconds in the microwave makes it easier to drizzle on the waffles. Place them both on the board.

Finish by arranging the waffles, bacon and any other warm items, like eggs, on the board. Serve immediately while everything is warm.

I keep additional waffles in the warm oven in case we need to refill them after each person enjoys one or two.
