Canned Cinnamon Roll Donuts Ingredients and Supplies
(see recipe card at the bottom of this post for measurements and details)
Ingredients:
- 8 count can of refrigerated cinnamon rolls, with icing
- canola or vegetable oil for frying
Supplies:

How to Make Cinnamon Roll Donuts
- Pour oil into a large round pan (that’s about 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep) to at least 2 inches deep and heat over medium heat for about five minutes or until oil temperature reaches 350°F.
- Meanwhile, lay cinnamon rolls out onto a cutting board. Using a small 1-inch round cookie cutter, cut the center out of each cinnamon roll.

- Drop dough rings and holes into hot oil, watching carefully and turning when golden, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Once donuts are golden on both sides, remove to a cooling rack set on a rimmed baking sheet. Repeat until all rings and holes are cooked.
- Scoop icing into a round microwave-safe bowl. Heat for about 15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle.

- Dip the tops of each donut and donut hole into the melted icing.
- Let excess drip back into the bowl.
- Turn glazed donuts back onto the rack, glazed side up. Serve warm.

How to Store Canned Cinnamon Roll Donuts
Once cooled completely, store leftover cinnamon roll donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. They are best enjoyed the same day though!

Why choose between cinnamon rolls and donuts when you can have the best of both with these Cinnamon Roll Donuts? A brilliant and tasty twist to your favorite canned cinnamon rolls!
Ingredients

These were awful. They took forever to make. And due to frying them in oil, the flavors cooked out of it. If you’re looking for flavorful, cinnamon-y, sugary deliciousness, this is NOT the recipe for you. If you’re looking for crunchy, old-fashioned styled donuts? These may satisfy you.
Hi Chris! I’m so sorry to hear the recipe didn’t turn out the way it should for you. These are super quick and easy for us to make and taste absolutely amazing each time we enjoy them. I’m wondering which brand of cinnamon rolls you used? Also, what kind of oil did you use? I can’t figure out why (or even how!!) they took you forever to make since all you do is open the can, cut a hole in the middle of each cinnamon roll and fry them up. It also sounds like you over-fried them since they were crunchy. They should have a slight crisp to the outside and be soft on the inside. They’re such a delicious canned cinnamon roll hack and it’s unfortunate you didn’t get to enjoy them like they should turn out.
This is going to be great in deer camp
do you think you could bake/fry these in a air fryer??
Hi CP! I don’t see why not. I’ve only used an air fryer for fries and bacon, but from those experiences, I think these donuts would do great in one. Enjoy!
I made these in the air fryer at 325 for 10 minutes which was slightly too long, next time I’ll try 8 minutes. They were still good though!
Have you tried baking these in donut pans?
Hi Donna! I haven’t, but I think it would work great. You probably wouldn’t even have to put them in a donut pan. You could just cut the hold out of the center and space them out on a pan to bake as the can directs for cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!
Made these for my elderly parents and they are in love! And they think I am an amazing chef! Lol! If they only knew how simple it is! Thanks for the great idea!
Barbara
I have made doughnuts from the canned biscuts (large size) before and they turned out great. I thought I would try these. How is it that yours stayed together. I did try to pinch them slightly.
Hi Kathy! I didn’t have any issues with them separating. Maybe just make sure you cut them while they’re still cold.
Where did you get the cute cutter?
Hi Deb! It’s actually part of this cookie cutter set: https://www.amazon.com/Astra-shop-6-Piece-Classic-Linzer/dp/B01L1UQFFQ/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_79_tr_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=34YBWESCM5CC3TAKTK20
