Let’s Have a (Meat)Ball!

One of my favorite meals to throw together are this easy homemade Baked Meatballs recipe and a side salad. The meatballs are so perfectly seasoned and filling, they stand up great on their own. Or sometimes I pair them with my favorite marinara sauce if I want things a little more… saucy.

And when I say this Italian meatball recipe is popular in our house–these babies are gone in a flash! I usually make a double batch!

Easy Italian Food Kids Love

From the moment my kids were eating solids, Italian food was an easy favorite. From homemade pizzas, to mini calzones, to pizza toast, I knew they’d gobble it up. Same with these baked meatballs. They’re so yummy and so quick to get on the table during the week when everything is hectic.

Use your favorite jarred tomato sauce or an easy homemade version. Or serve them plain with dipping sauce and a salad. Either way, it’s a warm, filling, delicious meal that you don’t have to spend a lot of time on.

Storage and Reheating

Store meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

To freeze cooked meatballs, allow to cool completely. Then place in a freezer safe baggie or container and store in the freezer for up to 2 months. Reheat in a 300 degree oven for 10 minutes or until heated through.

To freeze uncooked meatballs, arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer until frozen through. Transfer to a freezer safe container and freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.

Serve These Baked Meatballs With…

Chopped Caesar Salad

  1. Made these tonight for my family and one, they were SO fast to make and two, everyone ate them up so fast. That’s a dinner home run as far as I’m concerned.

  2. with my meatballs I steam them in the microwave they don’t have overcooked
you don’t need oil more healthy for you only 2-4 minutes depending on the size of the meatballs

    1. Hi, Peter! Thank you for your comment! I am sure your method is great. However, there is actually no oil in this recipe. Hope this helps!

  3. Even though I haven’t tried the meatballs yet, I’m giving it five stars because your recipes are ALWAYS spot on! ✨

    Question before I make this…
I cannot eat red meat. What white meat alternative do you suggest, and what would be the baking directions?

    Thank you so much…I’m a tad ‘kitchen-challenged.’ 😉

    1. Hi Nicole! Wow, thank you so much! These meatballs are tried and tasty so I know you’ll love them. I would recommend replacing the beef with either ground turkey or ground chicken. They should bake in 15-20 minutes. Just make sure they’re cooked all the way through with an internal temperature of 165°F. Enjoy!
