This banana bread recipe has just the right amount of semi-sweet chocolate so it’s not overly sweet. The bread is super moist and spongey and I swear, it doesn’t last ten minutes once it’s out of the oven and cooled. You might want to make two loaves!

Ingredients:
- Unsalted butter, melted
- Granulated sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Eggs
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Mashed overripe bananas
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Supplies:
- 9 x 5-inch loaf pan
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Large mixing bowl
- Whisk
When Is a Banana Ripe Enough for Baking?

How to Make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and let cool slightly. Whisk in the sugar and vanilla.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the flour and baking soda.
- Fold in the mashed bananas until just combined.
- Gently stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan. Garnish with more chocolate chips, if desired.
- Place on the middle or lower rack of the oven and bake for 60-65 minutes or until a knife or toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- NOTE: If the top of the bread is golden brown before the middle is completely baked through, tent the loaf pan with foil and continue to bake until the bread is cooked all the way through.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan completely before removing to a serving platter to slice and enjoy
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days.
To freeze, let the loaf cool completely and then wrap it in a layer of plastic wrap before then wrapping it in a layer of foil or placing in a freezer-safe plastic bag in the freezer for up to three months. Let defrost at room temperature for several hours.
