Packages of ingredients needed to make XOXO Snack Mix including cereals, candies, sprinkles, pretzels and cookies.

How to Make XOXO Valentine’s Day Snack Mix

  • First, in a large bowl, combine 4 cups Chocolate Chex cereal, 2 cups Very Berry Cheerios, and 2 cups X and O Shaped Pretzels.
  • Then, in a microwave safe bowl (or the container the candy coating comes in), melt the vanilla candy coating according to package directions. It usually takes about 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Stir every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.

Hot Tip!

Be sure not to over-melt the candy coating!  It will burn and become too thick to stir and coat the mix evenly. Go slowly, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.

  • Pour the melted candy coating over the ingredients in the bowl and toss to coat, using a large spoon.
  • Coat all the ingredients evenly.
  • Spread the mixture in an even layer on parchment paper. I like to keep mine contained to a rimmed baking sheet to catch any stray sprinkles.
  • Immediately sprinkle with the Valentine’s nonpareil sprinkle mix and the Valentine’s heart sprinkle mix.

  1. Hi! Can’t find the Valentine nonpareils sprinkles
or the Valentine heart sprinkles any advice for a substitute? Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah! The sprinkles are purely decorative, so if you find something you like, sprinkle away! Amazon might have some that ship quickly. Enjoy!
