Frozen bananas and mini chocolate chips make these tasty little Two-Ingredient Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bites the perfect healthy summer treat!

Dairy-Free Frozen Banana Treats
Ready or not, summer is here! And as the weather starts to warm up, finding treats that don’t require an oven is key. These 2-Ingredient Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bites are easy to make in the food processor, store great in the freezer, and taste amazing. They’re a cool, refreshing summer must-have!

Get the Scoop on a Healthier Summer
One of our favorite summer treats is one-ingredient banana “ice cream”. I love to slice overripe bananas and freeze them so we can make banana ice cream anytime we get a craving. It’s dairy-free, but the kids think it’s real ice cream and are completely satisfied with it. It’s so much healthier so I’m thrilled they love it so much.
One day I was thinking how could I make a ready-to-go banana ice cream for the kids to eat poolside. So I scooped the ice cream into mini muffin cups so we can enjoy these little ice cream bites without having to use bowls or spoons.

Watch Me Make Two-Ingredient Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bites
Join me in the kitchen to make up a batch of these deliciously healthy ice cream bites!
Easy, Full of Flavor and Kid-Friendly
They turned out great! I threw in some mini chocolate chips for fun and extra yum! Each bite is about two bites of creamy dreamy banana ice cream with a little crunch from the mini chocolate chips.
They’re so easy to make and store in the freezer just great. I stock our freezer for several weeks every time I make them.

Beat the Heat!
These bites are so easy and you’ll have healthy treats ready to eat when you need to cool off from the summer heat. Pure bananas make them so creamy and naturally sweet. I could eat the whole batch if I let myself. They’re so good!

I love this easy and tasty gonna try it with peanut butter chips next time.
I would have like to seen the nutritional value of this as I count it all.
Hi, Sue. I don’t provide nutritional information at this time because everyone uses different brands of ingredients. To find out, I would recommend plugging the ingredients you use into a free online recipe nutrition calculator like: https://whisk.com/recipe-nutrition-calculator/ Hope this helps and that you enjoy the banana bites!
These look yummy, can’t wait to try it! Just wondering if you have to freeze the bananas first, since you are going to freeze it in the end. Does freezing the bananas first change the texture? Thanks!
Hi KT! For best results and creaminess, I’d recommend freezing the bananas before blending them. If you just blend them and then freeze they won’t freeze up as creamy. They’re more icy for some reason. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
I was wondering how many calories were in each of these bites?
Hi, Emily! I’m sorry – I don’t know! I don’t provide nutritional information or calorie counts at this time. I would recommend plugging the ingredients you use into a free online recipe nutrition calculator like: https://whisk.com/recipe-nutrition-calculator/ Hope this helps. Enjoy! ❤️

Great Post
It is fantastic but melts really fast so eat it really quick 😋! My young twin girls love these, just can’t get enough of them. I was storing them in the fridge for safe keeping one day before work so that the girls wouldn’t eat to much, and when I came home, the little burglars had gotten in to them! My husband had said they could have a couple and that they were old enough to take it out of the fridge themselves and they had eaten all of them! Lol 😆
Very Impressive

I made these for the first time last summer, and they were great! Wonderful, healthier alternative to ice cream. I have another batch of banana slices in the freezer right now to surprise my son with these bites for dessert tonight.

Found your recipe yesterday and we made them today. So easy and very tasty too. I have not been able to eat ice cream for a year due the sugar being to high in it. When I made these I was so happy to have something I could eat again. My youngest daughter helped in the making of these. She loves them too. Thank you for such a yummy treat.

i made these and really really enjoyed them! however, next time I’ll shred the chocolate chips in first, because once frozen they’re very hard to bite in to/chew! also had an issue with popping mine out of the molds because they weren’t frozen properly, even though they were there for the recommend time, but I bumped up my freezer temperature and that seemed to do the trick! Lovley recipie thanks for sharing!!
Sorry I made these and they were just yucky !!
Oh no, Beth! I’m sorry to hear that. This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone not liking them. I wonder if your bananas were either not ripe enough or overly ripe?
Is there a reason you wouldn’t blend the fresh bananas, fold in the chips and then freeze, rather than freezing twice?
Hi Gayla! Great question. Frozen bananas create a much creamier/silky “ice cream” than room temperature bananas when blended and frozen into bites, for some reason. Enjoy!

Can’t wait to try this tomorrow! Might add some strawberries in there too for a strawberry-banana flavor! Thanks for sharing this fantastic idea! =)
Hi Joanne! Adding strawberries is such a great idea! Enjoy!
Sounds like a great healthy recipe, I can’t wait to try. I also have a 24 year old son with autism and I can’t get fruits or veggies in him either! Thanks Maegan and Judy! Can’t wait to try them , and I will also have to tell a “white lie” about the ingredients.
hi. this looks great, and even more interesting is the fact that there’s no milk or cream. ill try them out. Good job!
I made these last weekend and they were so easy and so yummy! We don’t have little ones, but I have one Son who is 25 and has Autism. I cannot get any fruits or vegetables in him. I thought he might like these as they had chocolate chips- and yup it worked ( had to fib a bit and tell him they were vanilla ice cream with some banana flavoring!) it worked and we are so happy that he is eating bananas! thanks for the recipe!!
That’s so great, Judy! I’m so happy you made them and that everyone, especially your son, is enjoying them! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Do they have to be overripe?
Hi Emma! They don’t have to be overripe, but definitely ripe. The riper the banana, the creamier and sweeter the bites will be. Enjoy!

How come your bites are so white? I tried to make for my kids and it did not turn so white like yours? any secret?
Hi Kamala! It probably just depends on the color of your bananas when you freeze them. If they’re already browning, your bites will be darker in color. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Do you know how many calories it is for each bite?
Hi Gia! I don’t calculate the nutritional information for my recipes, but you can easily plug the ingredients into an online nutrition calculator to get the information. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
62 calories each
These look delicious. One problem though – it’s March and it’s cold outside. Will they taste just as good in the winter as they would in the summer? What do you think Maegan?
We eat them year-round! Cold or hot outside, we’re always craving ice cream so these bites are a great healthy option to always have on hand. 🙂 Enjoy!
Can I use normal chocolate chips not mini?
Hi Amelia! Of course! I just used mini since the bites are so small. Enjoy!
That so easy to make! I can use a regular blender right?
Yes! A regular blender works great too. Enjoy!
I know it’s not summer, but the kids were begging to try these. We love them! I also added a couple tablespoons of natural organic peanut butter to the banana. Soo yummy!!! 🙂
Will definitely make. Thinking about making it into a bark and just break apart, no scooping out of tray with oil. Oh how I love the idea! Thanks
What are the calories in each one of these?
Hi Danni! I don’t provide nutritional information, but you can find several nutritional calculators online where you can calculate it yourself with the ingredients/brands you use in the recipe. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Months?? you’ve single handedly made me eat fruit in the name of Ice cream, and I haven’t complained about it! Seriously though, this recipe is god sent, I’ve even made it for guests who’ve tried this for an Ice cream sandwich bar (goes best with plain oatmeal cookies) and its a hit. Best part is they don’t realize its not ice cream!

Wow, these look fantastic! I’m gonna give them a whirl for my book club meeting next month. Are they very messy?
Hi Lani! I would recommend serving them right out of the freezer as they will start to melt if left sitting out for a while. We usually eat them with our hands in a few bites, but sometimes I’ll serve them in a bowl with a spoon or fork. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

These look amazing! I froze my bananas and am going to blend it. But I was wondering how they hold up after a few weeks in the fridge? Are they still good after a few days or weeks? Or do they get really ice-like? That is what I found the problem to be with making homemade ice cream or even fro-yo. Thanks!
Hi Megan! If you store them tightly sealed in a freezer safe container in the freezer, they should keep great for a couple of months. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Can we instead of a muffin pan just use an ice cream tub and freeze it as that and just scoop some out when you want some?
Hi Ram! I’ve found that it’s really hard to scoop and somewhat ice like when frozen in a large bowl. That’s why I decided to freeze them in the mini muffin cups so it could be made ahead and still be easy and tasty to eat without having to scoop and mess up the texture. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Wow! I love this. So healthy yet a treat all the same. Can’t wait to serve these up to my kids for a sweet summer surprise.
These are so adorable Maegan! Love how fun and easy they are to make!

Can these be made in plastic cups
Hi Rhonda! I haven’t tried them in plastic cups so I couldn’t say for sure how they would freeze and how you would remove them from the cups, but it’s certainly worth a try. Enjoy!
