Teacher Appreciation Day Snack Mix by the BakerMama

Teacher Appreciation Day, Every Day

I’ve always had a soft spot for teachers. When I was growing up, my mom and dad were both teachers and I saw how much passion they put into their work and their students. Love. Dedication. Tears of frustration and joy. Then when I had my own kids, my appreciation and affection for our teachers grew even stronger. Because, let’s be honest, our kids don’t always make it easy. And having a really great teacher in your corner means everything.

The last year has challenged our teachers and brought out their creativity, inspiration, and empathy. We would be lost without them. And so, to celebrate our teachers and their impact on our lives, I created this super cute, super yummy Teacher Appreciation Week Snack Mix.

Say It With Snacks!

With oodles of sweet, salty, and thoughtful treats, this mix says it all. Colorful candies say, “Our future is BRIGHT because of you!” Cookie cereal to say, “I am one smart COOKIE, thanks to you!” Gummy worms thank teacher “for making me a book WORM!” and pretzel fish to say, “You are o-fish-ally the best!” I mean, cute, right?

All the baggies, tags, and ribbon came from Michael’s, but y’all can get creative with your presentation or let the snack mix speak for itself. I also love sharing these mixes in a plain Mason jar.

Mix Up Some Love

First, in a large mixing bowl, combine 5 cups Rice Chex cereal, 1 cup sea salt dry roasted peanuts, 1 cup Goldfish Pretzel Crackers, 1 cup Cookie Crisp cereal and 1 cup Sesame Street Cinnamon Letter Shapes. Then, in a microwave safe bowl (or the container the candy coating comes in), melt the white vanilla candy coating according to package directions. It usually takes about 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Stir every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.

Tip! Be sure not to over-melt the candy coating!  It will burn and become too thick to stir and coat the mix evenly.

Now pour the melted candy coating over the ingredients in the large bowl and toss with a large spoon to coat. Ingredients should be evenly covered in the candy coating. Immediately sprinkle ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles over the mixture in the bowl and stir gently to mix them throughout.

Spread the mixture out in an even layer on parchment paper. Then immediately sprinkle with the remaining rainbow sprinkles, the milk chocolate M&M’s Minis and the milk chocolate regular M&M’s. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup Goldfish pretzels, ½ cup Cookie Crisp cereal and ½ cup Sesame Street letter cereal over the mixture. Arrange the Flipz Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels and mini gummy worms over the mixture as well.

Finally, allow the snack mix to cool completely before breaking apart to serve out of a large bowl or jar. Divide into baggies or small containers to gift. Share and enjoy!
