3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cups Ingredients and Supplies

(see recipe card at the bottom of this post for measurements and details)

Ingredients:

  • Peanut butter – you can use smooth or crunchy, depending on your preference.
  • Powdered sugar
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – a high quality, good-melting chocolate looks and tastes best.

How to Make 3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cups

  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the peanut butter and powdered sugar until well combined.
  • Line a mini (24 cup) muffin pan with liners.
  • Fill each cup of the mini muffin pan about 2/3 full of the peanut butter mixture. Press the mixture down into the cup.
  • Place the mini muffin pan in the freezer for 30 minutes to flash freeze them.
Steps to make Peanut Butter Cups.
  • When you’re ready to coat the peanut butter in chocolate, place 1 cup of the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bow. Microwave in 30 seconds intervals until melted and smooth, stirring between each interval.

  • Remove half of the flash frozen peanut butter cups from the freezer.
  • Unwrap each cup from its liner.
  • Use a fork to dip and coat each cup completely in the melted chocolate. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Then transfer the coated cup to a parchment-lined sheet pan.

  • Repeat with the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips and remaining peanut butter cups.
  • Let set at room temperature until the chocolate is completely set. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

How to Store 3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cups

Store homemade peanut butter cups in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. 

To freeze, flash freeze in a single layer on a parchment lined sheet pan for about 1 hour. Then wrap each one in plastic wrap and place in a freezer safe plastic bag or container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Alternatively, flash freeze in a single layer for 1 hour and then space out in layers with parchment between each layer in a freezer-safe plastic bag or container to freezer for up to 3 months.

To defrost, keep wrapped and allow to defrost in the refrigerator first and then let come to room temperature before enjoying.
