How to Cook Rice
Light, fluffy, aromatic rice is a staple at our house. Dressed up in a rice salad or in a super comforting Cheesy Broccoli Rice Casserole, this kitchen basic is anything but. And with a little know-how, it’s easy to get it right every time.
This how-to is for long-grain rice which includes long-grain white rice varieties like basmati, texmati, and jasmine as well as long-grain brown rice. This is our favorite rice to cook and have on hand for so many different uses.
First, combine the rice, water, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir once and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes. This lets the rice absorb more moisture. Fluff with a fork and serve!
That’s all there is to it! Enjoy!
