This scrumptious sweet and salty Spooky Snack Mix is sure to be a Halloween hit!

A Snack Mix to Go Batty For
Here I go again! I’m on a mission to make sure I have a festive snack mix for every occasion and this spooky snack mix is so fun and so yummy. My crew went crazy for it the first time I made it and has been begging for it ever since.

With chocolate candy coated cereal, chocolate peanut butter bat shaped cereal, spooky fun sprinkles, pumpkin and bat shaped pretzels, bright colored M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix, harvest candy corn and other festive Halloween treats, it’s a party to both the eyes and the mouth. The sweet and salty flavors with the crunchy and chewy textures is dangerously delicious!
You just coat the chocolate Chex cereal in the chocolate candy coating and lay it out flat before immediately sprinkling with sprinkles and all the other goodies. Not shown in these pictures, but I’ve been adding these Mother’s Eerie Critters Frosted Cookies the past few years and they are an adorable and delicious addition to this scrumptious snack mix!

What Do I Need to Make Spooky Snack Mix?
Here’s a handy dandy list of everything you need to make this snack mix along with links to easily add them to your shopping cart. Feel free to make it your own with festive Halloween ingredients that you find at your local store:
- 1 (16 ounce) package chocolate candy coating
- 6 cups Chex chocolate cereal
- 1 cup Halloween themed sprinkles: Magic Mix Halloween Sprinkles, Midnight Fright Assorted Sprinkles, Pumpkins Ghosts and Bats Sprinkle Mix, and/or Candy Eyeballs
- 1 cup regular M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
- 1 cup peanut M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
- 1/2 cup Sun-Maid orange and black yogurt covered raisins (they come in mini boxes on the Halloween aisle or near the raisins) or Reese’s Pieces or regular M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
- 2 cups Reese’s Puffs Peanut Butter Bats cereal or Count Chocula Halloween Cereal
- 1/2 cup Brach’s Harvest Candy Corn
- 1 cup Mother’s Eerie Critters Frosted Cookies
- 2 cups Utz Pumpkin and Bat Shaped Pretzels

How to Make a Spooky Snack Mix for Halloween
- In a large bowl, add the Chex cereal.
- In a microwave safe bowl, or the container it comes in, melt the chocolate candy coating according to package directions, usually 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.
Hot Tip!
Be sure not to over-melt the candy coating! It will burn and become too thick to stir and coat the mix evenly. Go slowly, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Pour the melted candy coating over the Chex cereal in the large bowl and toss to coat with a large spoon. Cereal should be evenly coated in the candy coating.
- Spread the coated cereal in an even layer on a parchment lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with the sprinkles and then the remaining ingredients.
- Allow mixture to cool completely. Break apart to serve. Store in an airtight container or baggie.

Notes
See above within this blog post for links to all ingredients as well as substitution options.
I think if you spread out the Chex with the melted coating and then sprinkled the sprinkles over and let that cool and then broke it (carefully) into pieces and mixed with the remaining ingredients you might get a better result. The coating is so abundant it stuck to everything and muddied the visual. Otherwise fun and deliciously addictive
How many kids does one batch serve?
Hi Elly! It depends on how much you let each kids take ;), but the recipe makes about 25 cups. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
