These Chocolate Chip Scones are buttery and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside with melting chocolate throughout. Meet your new obsession!
Scone Girl
I’ve always been a scone girl. Something about the texture of a good scone, with that slight crunch on the outside and the tender, flaky inside. YUM! I can get pretty obsessed. These Chocolate Chip Scones are everything a great scone should be. Crisp on the outside while sweet, soft and flaky on the inside. And every bite has just the right amount of melting chocolate. Oh my gosh, I’m so hungry just thinking about them! I am so excited for you to add them to your baking rotation!
The beauty of scones is how simple they are. You probably have all of the ingredients in your fridge and pantry right now! Flour, sugar, salt and baking soda plus some butter, eggs, milk and chocolate chips. These Chocolate Chip Scones could not be more basic or more delicious. Once you make them, they’re sure to become your newest baking obsession, too!
How to Make Chocolate Chip Scones
First, preheat the oven to 425°F. Then, in a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until the flour‐coated particles of butter are the size of coarse cornmeal.
Next, lightly beat one of the eggs and add it to the bowl along with the milk. Stir quickly and lightly, only until no flour shows.
Next, add the chocolate chips and gently stir until they are distributed well throughout the dough. Then turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead gently about fifteen times. Cut the dough in half. Shape each half into a ball, press each down into a round about one‐half inch thick and cut it into eight wedges like a pie. You should have 16 wedges total.
Place the wedges on a parchment-lined baking sheet without allowing the side to touch. Glaze with the other lightly beaten egg. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
