Ingredients
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 eggs, divided
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until the flour‐coated particles of butter are the size of coarse cornmeal.
- Lightly beat one of the eggs and add it to the bowl along with the milk. Stir quickly and lightly, only until no flour shows.
- Add the chocolate chips and gently stir until they are distributed well throughout the dough.
- Turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead gently about fifteen times. Cut the dough in half. Shape each half into a ball, press each down into a round about one‐half inch thick and cut it into eight wedges like a pie. You should have 16 wedges total.
- Place the wedges on a parchment-lined baking sheet without allowing the side to touch. Glaze with the other lightly beaten egg. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
