Description

These Chocolate Chip Scones are buttery and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside with melting chocolate throughout. They’re sure to be your new obsession!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 eggs, divided
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until the flour‐coated particles of butter are the size of coarse cornmeal.
  3. Lightly beat one of the eggs and add it to the bowl along with the milk. Stir quickly and lightly, only until no flour shows.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and gently stir until they are distributed well throughout the dough.
  5. Turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead gently about fifteen times. Cut the dough in half. Shape each half into a ball, press each down into a round about one‐half inch thick and cut it into eight wedges like a pie. You should have 16 wedges total.
  6. Place the wedges on a parchment-lined baking sheet without allowing the side to touch. Glaze with the other lightly beaten egg. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
