Why Beer?

Why put beer in a bread recipe? The carbonation in the beer acts as a leavening agent. It makes the bread rise, no yeast is needed! It also gives the bread its nice golden color and a slightly sweet flavor. Once you try it, you’ll be hooked!

Dark Beer = Darker Bread

Some like it dark! There’s no rule about what kind of beer you should use for beer bread. Sometimes we choose a dark beer such as stout or porter, which produces a darker bread! It still rises up soft, fluffy and delicious.

How to Store Beer Bread

To store leftover beer bread, wrap bread in foil and store at room temperature for up to three days.

To freeze bread, first let it cool completely. Then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and put it into a freezer-safe baggie before storing in the freezer. Wrap the bread as airtight as possible. When stored properly in the freezer, bread will maintain great quality for 2-3 months.

To thaw, let it sit, loosely covered, at room temperature for several hours.
