That’s pretty much what my mind is thinking all the time! I mean really, what’s not to love about bacon on or with just about anything and everything?! I love bacon by itself, of course, as well as in sandwiches, baked into brownies, sprinkled over a pizza, mixed into ice cream, and wait for it…crumbled over a pie.
My favorite way to cook bacon is to bake it. Much easier and way less of a mess for me than frying it. And it turns out so perfect and crisp every time! Plus, I’m usually flipping pancakes or scrambling eggs on top of the stove, so getting the bacon going in the oven first works great so that when everything else is done cooking, I can just pull this perfectly crisp bacon straight from the oven and transfer it to a platter to serve up with the rest of breakfast. It always gets rave reviews!
Be sure to use thick-cut bacon, brush it with lots of maple syrup and sprinkle it generously with dark brown sugar. And put the bacon in the oven while it preheats to cook it to the perfect crispness. Just a few tips to its terrific taste!
How to Make Baked Maple Brown Sugar Bacon
First, line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Spray the rack with non-stick cooking spray. Lay the bacon side-by-side across the rack. Brush both sides with maple syrup. Sprinkle the tops with brown sugar and rub it in gently.
Place the bacon on the top rack of the oven and then turn the oven on to 400°F. Bake the bacon for 20 minutes or until browned and starting to darken a bit around the edges, rotating after 10 minutes.
This is our absolute favorite bacon! We bake it all the time and as you can imagine, it disappears so fast! I’ve actually had to start baking two batches of it at a time to keep up with our love for it! Give it a try! I’m pretty sure you and yours will love it too!

What should I do if the bacon is frozen and I don’t have time to thaw it?
Hi, Aubrey! Oooh, that’s a pickle! Can you take the time to thaw it in the microwave? You can take the bacon from the package and place it on a plate. Then use your microwave’s defrost setting. It should only take about 5 minutes. Check FREQUENTLY though, because microwaves are finicky. Hope this helps!
When you said to “rotate” after 15 minutes, did you mean to turn the bacon over, or rotate the pan ??

I made this today. It was super yummy but wasn’t crispy. It was more on the chewy side. Any idea what I did wrong?
Hi Connie! It sounds like you needed to bake it longer. Was it baking on the top rack of the oven? Also, the thickness of the bacon really determines how long it takes to bake crisp. Next time, I would suggest checking it often toward the end and if it’s dark in color, but not as crisp as you desire, move the pan to the middle rack of the oven and let it continue to bake until of desired crispness.
