The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a big jar of SuSu’s Cereal Snack Mix to eat!  A scrumptious, salty treat everyone loves!

Can’t Put It Down

Maybe it’s the extra Worcestershire sauce or abundance of mixed nuts (including pistachios!) or overall assurance of crispiness throughout. The way the cereal, nuts and pretzels absorb the sauce and crisp up while baking is just pure magic coming out of the oven. There’s something about SuSu’s Cereal Snack Mix that makes it so much more yummy than any other snack mix out there.

Mmmm…mmmm! It’s salty, buttery, crispy, crunchy, irresistible.

A Holiday Tradition

I just love this time of year! So much time spent with family, making memories, and soaking in all the season has to offer. Most of our time around the holidays is spent up in Oklahoma at my parents’ house. All 6 of us just roll in and make ourselves right at home. There’s just so much comfort and tradition that my parents’ create in their home that makes us all so happy!

From Oreo Ice Cream Pie on my birthday to her Special Apple Pie at the holidays or the comfort of her Hot Chicken Salad Pie, my mom’s food plays a huge role in our family traditions. One tradition that we all count on is a big jar of my mom’s (aka SuSu) cereal snack mix that is always on the kitchen counter. We literally walk in the door and everyone reaches in for a handful and then pretty much each time we pass the jar we reach in again.

SuSu's Cereal Snack Mix

Perfect for Every Day

SuSu’s cereal snack mix started as a holiday tradition, but honestly it’s an every day tradition now. We all love it so much that SuSu keeps a fresh jar of it in our favorite airtight glass jars on her kitchen counter all the time. Score!

It’s super easy to make and fills the house with the most amazing savory aroma there is. SuSu’s cereal snack mix makes for such a great snack to put out for the holidays, game day or really any day. It’s a real crowd pleaser!

Ingredients and Supplies

(see recipe card at the bottom of this post for measurements and details)

Ingredients:

  • Crispix cereal (12 cups): Crispix is the only cereal my mom will make it with, but you could certainly use a Chex cereal (corn or rice), if desired.
  • Mixed nuts: we love to use a good deluxe nut mix, but you could certainly use any mix of your favorite nuts.
  • Shelled pistachios: pistachios are such a great addition with their pop of color, but you could leave them out or replace them with another nut. You could also just use 4 cups of this nut mix with pistachios.
  • Mini pretzel twists: you could use pretzel sticks or pretzel snaps instead.
  • Unsalted butter: helps the seasoning stick and gives the snack mix that buttery richness.
  • Worcestershire sauce: the umami bomb that gives that savory depth of flavor.
  • Fresh lemon juice: adds brightness and balances the salty/savory flavors.
  • Seasoned salt: adds layers of flavor with garlic, onion, and paprika (not just salt!).
  • Garlic salt: adds a strong, punchy garlic flavor along with additional salt.
