I can’t believe it’s been two years since I started The BakerMama! What a fun and yum two years it’s been!
I’ll take you back to how it all started! The summer of 2012, I applied to become the baking blogger for Gold Medal Flour. I had never written a blog or even taken pictures of food before, so it was definitely a shock when they selected me and I couldn’t have been more honored, excited, eager and a bit nervous to jump into this wonderful world of food blogging! Here are the two recipes I submitted in a mock blog as my application to Gold Medal Flour. These yummy recipes ended up being the first two posts on my blog and they’re still two of our favorite recipes that I bake/make often.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies {3 Ways} – check out the cute pic of Baker-man when he was just a baby! I can’t believe how big he is now!
Oven-Fried Chicken & Waffles with Maple Gravy – one of my most popular recipes and one of our faves! If you like chicken & waffles or if you’ve never even tried them, you’ve gotta try this version! So yummy!
I think my photography has improved a bit over the past two years, but there’s certainly much more room for improvement! I’m hoping to take a photography course this year. I never knew I would love taking pics of food as much as I do!
So get this, the day Gold Medal Flour called to offer me their baking blogger position, I was prepping everything for Baker’s 1st birthday party, which was the next day. I was super excited that they selected me and so excited to celebrate my sweet baby boy’s 1st birthday! A day I’ll never forget! I was also feeling a little nauseous and was extremely hungry. I’m always hungry, but this was a different kind of hunger, y’all! Like I ate a whole pasta casserole all by myself kind of hunger. Oh, and I wasn’t craving sweets like I always do. The only other time I haven’t craved sweets in my life was the first few months I was pregnant with Baker, soooo before we opened a bottle of wine to celebrate, I took a pregnancy test…
And about 3 weeks after that, we found out it was…
I shook non-stop for 3 days straight! So excited and a bit overwhelmed! I was definitely questioning whether I should still start blogging for Gold Medal given we would have 3 under 2 for a little while, but I knew I would regret it and I’m sooo glad I decided to go ahead and do it! I had 4 months worth of posts ready to go before the twins even arrived, so I really got to focus on them those first several months and once they were on a good sleeping schedule and napping regularly, I was ready to get back in the kitchen and start creating and photographing yummy recipes again. Sure, it’s been crazy, but I’ve loved every yummy moment!
I feel so blessed to get to do the two things that I’ve always dreamed to do on a daily basis: be a mama and a baker/blogger! The BakerMama is my 4th baby and I love it so so much!
Back in April of this year, I took The BakerMama off on it’s own while still creating yummy recipes and content for the Gold Medal Flour baker’s blog twice a week. It’s a dream come true and I’m having so much fun growing this little blog of mine into something that hopefully brings a lot of love and yumminess into your homes!
I couldn’t do it without all of the encouragement and support my hubby, Brandon, gives me every single day! He’s my #1 fan and my #1 taste tester (he’s a tough cookie critic, y’all!) and I’m so unbelievably thankful for him! Love ya, babe!
My sweet boys are my inspiration as I strive to create family-friendly food and fun with them right by my side in our kitchen! And when they’re napping or tucked in for the night, Brandon and I find so much enjoyment in creating amazing dishes for our little date nights in and for entertaining with friends and family! We’re just a family of foodies with a large appetite for life!
Thank YOU so much for following along! It means the world to me when you share that you’ve made and enjoyed one of my recipes with your family and friends. That’s what it’s all about for me! Here’s to many more years of fun and yum!
xoxo,

Congratulations on your big score 2 years ago – in more ways than one. You blog is one of the best and Gold Medal couldn’t have chosen a better person to represent them and show off their product. So glad to have got to know you these last few months and I am always looking forward to your family pics on Instagram too!
