A thoughtfully organized, functional and stylish home office is key to running The BakerMama. Let me walk you through all the details of my home office makeover!

Before and After with Getting It Done Organizing

I finally tackled another space (you might remember Our Dream Pantry Reveal!) that had been weighing on me for far too long—my home office.

This room used to be the formal living room at the entry to our home, which means it’s the very first thing people see when they walk in. I turned it into my office years ago and have tried several different storage layouts for everything I need to run The BakerMama on a daily basis, and it just never felt functional. But after two days with Jenny and her team at Getting It Done Organizing, this space has been completely transformed—and it truly feels life-changing.

Before: An Overwhelming Office

This room holds so much of my everyday life and business—boards, cookbooks, linens, tableware, and all of my holiday goodies for creating seasonal recipes. For years, I’ve stored everything in bins which worked really well for me for a long time. But over time, those bins multiplied into more than 100 tubs stacked throughout the room—along the walls, in front of the windows, and even spilling into our dining room.

Because I’m constantly pulling items for recipes and content, bins were always being opened and rarely put back the same way. The result was a space that felt cluttered, overwhelming, and uninspiring. And when your workspace feels like that, it makes everything harder.

I honestly found myself avoiding the space whenever I could.

Why Use a Professional Organizer

There came a point where I knew I needed help. I love organizing, but I needed that push to really focus on solving the space and fixing it with a thoughtful design. What I needed were extra hands and a clear timeline to actually get it done. That’s when I reached out to Jenny Dietsch, the owner of Getting It Done Organizing here in Dallas.

From the moment she and her team walked in, I felt immediate relief. They brought a clear vision, a thoughtful plan, and such a calm, positive energy that made the entire process feel manageable. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt supported—and that made all the difference.

Day 1: Sorting, Purging and Creating a System

We started by going through every bin. Even though I thought things were “organized,” Jenny and her team took everything to a completely different level. They emptied each bin, categorized everything inside, and helped me thoughtfully decide what to keep, donate, or let go of.

It was a full day of sorting, but it never felt stressful. They guided me through every decision in a way that felt easy and comfortable—like having trusted friends help you tackle something big.

At the same time, their amazing handyman was building a custom storage system using IKEA PAX units. I was blown away by how quickly it all came together. Every time I walked into the room, more shelves had been installed, and it already started to feel like a completely new space.

Day Two: Organizing, Labeling and Bringing It All Together

By day two, everything really started to come to life. We had narrowed everything down to around 40 bins, which felt like such a huge win. Each bin now has a designated space within the new cabinet system, along with clear, customizable labels so I can spot exactly what I need at a glance without pulling everything out. That alone has been such a game changer.

We also added thoughtful details—like dedicated storage for my boards, which makes them easy to access without stacking or damaging them, and a beautiful open shelving area to style and display pieces that I love and that inspire me. The entire system feels incredibly custom, even though it’s built from IKEA components.

Seeing everything finally have a place—and being able to find exactly what I need instantly—was the moment it all clicked.

The Finished Office: Functional, Beautiful and Peaceful

I truly can’t get over how different this space feels now. What used to be cluttered and overwhelming is now clean, functional, and calm. I can see out the windows again, everything has a place, and the room finally feels like it’s working for me instead of against me. And because this is the first space people see when they walk into our home, it means so much that it now feels welcoming instead of chaotic.

Organization Changed My Life

This transformation goes far beyond how the space looks. I feel more creative and productive when I’m in this room. I’m more focused. And I no longer waste time digging through bins or cleaning up piles before I can even start working.

As a business owner and a mom, having systems that actually function has made such a difference in my day-to-day life. It’s brought a sense of calm and control that I didn’t even realize I was missing.

Working with Getting It Done Organizing

Beyond the results, the experience itself was just incredible. Jenny and her team were professional, efficient, and so thoughtful throughout the entire process. They made something that felt overwhelming become completely doable—and even enjoyable.

I trusted them every step of the way, and their guidance made such a difference in how smoothly everything came together. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by a space in your home, I truly can’t recommend them enough. This kind of transformation doesn’t just change your home—it changes how you live in it.

Final Thoughts

This project reminded me just how much our spaces impact the way we feel and function every day. When things feel cluttered and out of control, it’s hard to feel calm or creative. But with the right systems—and the right help—it can completely transform not just your space, but your mindset too. And now, instead of avoiding this room, I truly love working in it again—especially during all the behind-the-scenes moments when I’m not in the kitchen.

I hope you enjoyed the behind-the-scenes of creating a beautiful home office. I learned so much about organization and how key it is to running my small business!
