How to build an adorable and delicious Pumpkin Snack Board for a Halloween or fall party that is sure to WOW your crowd!
A Jack of All Treats
If you know me or have been following me on Instagram, you know I’m obsessed with boards. Whether is be a weeknight brinner board or a festive holiday board like this Pumpkin Snack Board, I’m always thinking of ways to serve our meals/snacks on a board. I love building them and my family and friends love eating off of them. So much fun and yum!
This Snack-O’-Lantern (as we love to call it!) was such a huge hit that I just have to share all the details on how I built it so you can build one too for your family and friends this fall! There’s no tricks to building this treat of a Jack-O’-Lantern (such a yummy break from all the Halloween candy).
How to Make a Pumpkin Snack Board
I used a 20-inch round Mango Wood Board with a small handle and it worked so perfectly for the pumpkin shape and amount of snacks I wanted to serve.
I used three of these candy corn shaped cookie cutters as place holders for the eyes and nose or you could use any triangular cookie cutters. I placed the cookie cutters down first, filled them with the black foods and then surrounded them with the orange foods before carefully pulling the cookie cutters up to leave the black foods in the triangular shape. Worked like a charm!
For the mouth, I shaped black concord grapes into a smile. So darn cute!
Pumpkin Snack Board Ingredients and Supplies
Ingredients:
- black Concord grapes
- blackberries
- sharp cheddar cheese, cracker cut slices
- cheddar cheese cracker squares (such as Cheez-its)
- cheddar cheese popcorn
- baby carrots
- orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
- pumpkin spice sandwich cookies (like the Joe-Joe’s from Trader Joe’s or Oreos)
- cheese balls
- sweet potato crackers
- pumpkin spice yogurt covered pretzels
- Trader Joe’s Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies, only using the orange colored cookies for the board
- dried apricots
- clementines, peeled and separated into pieces
- mini seedless cucumber, thinly sliced
Additional Orange Colored Snack Options:
- cantaloupe
- orange colored veggie straws
- cheese puffs
- cheese balls
Additional Black Colored Food Options:
- olives
- black figs
Supplies:

- Candy Corn Shaped Cookie Cutters
I got almost all of the goodies at Trader Joe’s, but most major grocery stores sell very similar items that you could use in place of these if you want to get everything from your local store. I just had these on hand, so I used them.
I always have the kids help me sort, peel, chop and organize the snacks for putting on the board. They love helping build it too!
So I filled in all the black fruits first and then started in the middle with the cheese slices and worked my way out with lines of the orange snacks around the black fruits. I just packed the foods tightly around the edges and they held in place just great as I transferred the board to the table to serve. Just one of the pretzels fell into my hand as I was carrying it so I put it back in its place and we dug in!

Instructions
- On a 20-inch round wood board with a small handle, place three candy corn-shaped cookie cutters in place for the pumpkin’s eyes and nose. Shape the black grapes into a smile for the pumpkin’s mouth. Fill the cookie cutters with the blackberries.
- Start by lining the cheese slices down the middle of the board. Line the remaining orange colored snacks out on both sides of the cheese slices and around the black fruits until the board is completely covered. With the orange foods on the edge of the board, pack them tightly so they stay in place if you transfer the board to another location to serve.
- Carefully, lift the cookie cutters from the board, shaping the blackberries back into the triangle shape, if necessary. You can always add more black fruits or orange snacks to fill in any gaps.
- Place the thinly sliced cucumber at the top of the board in a bent shape for the pumpkin’s stem.
- Serve and enjoy!
Made this for my granddaughters Halloween birthday party. Turned out very cute. Bought the board from Sur La Table and it is a very nice board. Mine was not quite as perfect as the BakerMama but pretty close.

Did you have any issues keeping the dry foods dry? I was wondering if the cracker, popcorn, etc., got soggy. I would like to make this, maybe drying off the “wet” produce and serving immediately will help.

Hi Tammy! No, we don’t have any issues because I let all of the fruits and veggies dry pretty well before placing them on the board. Enjoy making and serving it!
