Description

Chocolate cake donuts covered in a rich chocolate glaze with chocolate sprinkles. A Triple Chocolate Donut dream that’s baked and so easy to make!

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Chocolate Glaze:

  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 (6.25 ounce) container chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray one (or up to three) 6 cavity donut pans with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, milk, oil and vanilla. Whisk the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, one cup at a time, until well combined and smooth.
  4. Transfer the batter to a gallon-size resealable baggie and seal shut. Cut a small piece off one corner off the bottom of the baggie and fill each donut ring 2/3 full with batter. (Should make 18 donuts)
  5. Bake for 7-8 minutes or until donuts are set and crisp when touched. Let donuts cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to collect glaze drippings. Repeat process with remaining batter if you don’t have three donut pans.
  6. Make the Chocolate Glaze: in a medium bowl, whisk together the confectioner’s sugar, cocoa powder, milk and vanilla until glaze is thick and smooth. (If glaze is too thick, stir in an additional teaspoon or two of milk. If glaze is too thin, let set for 5-10 minutes or whisk in a few tablespoons of confectioner’s sugar.)
  7. Dip the top of one donut at a time into the glaze and place upright back on the wire rack. Immediately sprinkle each glazed donut generously with chocolate sprinkles. Repeat with remaining donuts. Allow glaze to set for 5-10 minutes. Enjoy!
