Description

In this Basics by The BakerMama, I teach you how to wash cilantro properly so that it adds flavor, not grit, to your favorite Mexican and Southwest dishes.

Ingredients

  • Bundle of fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Place the cilantro in a large bowl and fill the bowl with cold water until the cilantro is fully submerged in the water.
  2. Swish and shake the cilantro around in the water so the stems and leaves separate and release any dirt.
  3. Lift the bunch of cilantro from the water and empty the dirty water.
  4. Rinse the cilantro two to three more times until the water is clear of grit and grime.
  5. Let the cilantro air dry on a paper towel.
  6. Chop and store in a container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
