Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • flaky sea salt (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place butter in a 10-inch cast iron skillet over low heat until melted. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
  4. Whisk in the sugar.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla. Whisk until glossy.
  6. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  7. Fold in the remaining 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Smooth batter in skillet.
  8. Bake for 24-26 minutes until edges are set and the top is crackly with a slightly soft center.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with flaky sea salt, if desired.
  10. Let cool 10 minutes. Top with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and/or whipped cream to share or let each person scoop their own serving and top as they wish.
