Spooky Snack Mix

A Snack Mix to Go Batty For

Here I go again! I’m on a mission to make sure I have a festive snack mix for every occasion and this spooky snack mix is so fun and so yummy. My crew went crazy for it the first time I made it and has been begging for it ever since.

Spooky Snack Mix

With chocolate candy coated cereal, chocolate peanut butter bat shaped cereal, spooky fun sprinkles, bat shaped pretzels, bright colored peanut M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix, Brach’s vampire teeth or harvest candy corn and Sun-Maid orange and black yogurt covered raisins, it’s a party to both the eyes and the mouth. The sweet and salty flavors with the crunchy and chewy textures is dangerously delicious!

You just coat the Chex chocolate cereal in the chocolate candy coating and lay it out flat before immediately sprinkling with sprinkles, Reese’s Puffs Peanut Butter Bats cereal or Count Chocula Cereal with Monster Marshmallows and all the other goodies. These Halloween Circus Animal Cookies would be an adorable and delicious addition as well! Let it set until completely cooled and then break it into pieces and enjoy!

What Do I Need to Make Spooky Snack Mix?

Here’s a handy dandy list of everything you need to make this snack mix:

Spooky Snack Mix

How to Make a Spooky Snack Mix for Halloween

  • In a large bowl, add the Chex cereal.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, or the container it comes in, melt the chocolate candy coating according to package directions, usually 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.

Hot Tip!

Be sure not to over-melt the candy coating!  It will burn and become too thick to stir and coat the mix evenly. Go slowly, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.

  • Pour the melted candy coating over the Chex cereal in the large bowl and toss to coat with a large spoon. Cereal should be evenly coated in the candy coating.
  • Spread the coated cereal in an even layer on a parchment lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with the sprinkles and then the remaining ingredients.
  • Allow mixture to cool completely. Break apart to serve. Store in an airtight container or baggie.

  1. I think if you spread out the Chex with the melted coating and then sprinkled the sprinkles over and let that cool and then broke it (carefully) into pieces and mixed with the remaining ingredients you might get a better result. The coating is so abundant it stuck to everything and muddied the visual. Otherwise fun and deliciously addictive

    1. Hi Elly! It depends on how much you let each kids take ;), but the recipe makes about 25 cups. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

  2. I love making your holiday mixes. Everyone loves them! Where did you find the ghost containers? I’d like to give these to my neighbors. 🙂
