Description

Top muffins, quick breads, cobblers and even ice cream with a Simple Streusel that’s sweet and buttery with the perfect crumble.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, melt the butter.
  2. Stir in the sugar, light brown sugar and flour until crumbly.
  3. Let set at room temperature for at least 5 minutes or until ready to use.

Notes

  • If your streusel is not crumbly, let it set, uncovered, at room temperature longer or in the refrigerator to dry it out a bit and then fluff with a fork. You can also stir in 1 teaspoon more of flour at a time until of desired crumbliness.
  • If your streusel is too dry, stir in 1 teaspoon of melted butter at a time until of desired crumbliness.
  • To bake just the streusel, spread it out in an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in a 350°F oven, stirring ever 5 minutes, until golden brown and crisp, about 15 minutes total.
