Description
With your favorite fall flavors in a warm, single-serving treat, this Apple Mug Cake is the ultimate cozy cool weather dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons peeled and finely chopped apple (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts, optional
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe mug (8 to 10 ounce size), melt the butter in the microwave until just melted.
- Whisk in the milk and vanilla.
- Add the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder and salt. Whisk until you have a smooth batter.
- Fold in the chopped apple and walnuts (if using).
- Smooth the batter into the mug with a spatula or the back of a spoon and clean around the edges a bit with a paper towel.
- Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the power of your microwave. It should rise and look set but moist.
- Let sit for 1-2 minutes to cool and firm up.
- Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel syrup and more chopped walnuts, if desired. Enjoy!
