Build-Your-Own Sandwich Board by The BakerMama

I love a good build-your-own meal to feed my favorite people and this Ultimate Build-Your-Own Sandwich Board is one of my go-tos!

It’s covered with a great assortment of fillings so that each person can build their perfect sandwich. The excitement on people’s faces when they approach the board is pretty awesome. You can just see their eyes grow big and a smile of concentration on their faces as they choose their bread, meats, cheeses, veggies and spreads. The combinations are exhilarating and endless!

I love the variety a good build-your-own sandwich board offers. And the beauty is that there’s no cooking required! Choose the breads, meats, cheeses, veggies and spreads that your crowd or family will enjoy most. Use what you have on hand and put it on the board, then serve it and let everyone enjoy! We love making sandwich boards for a casual Saturday lunch, football watch parties, and Sunday night supper.

If you board it, they will come!

I just get a big wooden board and arrange it so that people can easily grab what they need to build their own sandwich. Of course, I base the size of the board off of how many people I need to feed. I’ve made a sandwich board to feed 4 and a board to feed 20+. The larger the crowd, the bigger the board. More breads, more meats, more cheeses…you get it!

Here are some of my favorite size boards to build sandwich boards on:

  1. Any chance you can do a great gatsby themed party board? My mum and aunty want that kind of theme for their upcoming party

    1. Hi Emma! That sounds so fun! I will definitely let you know and post about it if I do get a chance to create and host a Great Gatsby Themed Party. Pinterest has a lot of cute ideas in the meantime though.

  2. Maegan–I just found your site, and I absolutely love it! Thank you for all your posts! Where did you get your sandwich board–or will you share the dimensions? That would help me. I can’t judge how big of a board I would need and I want to try your ideas out. Thanks again!

    1. Hi Rebecca! My dad actually made it for me several years ago. I love it and use it all the time! It measures 19 X 28. Enjoy! 🙂

      1. How many do you think this size board will serve? I need to make a large board off site and was thinking of getting a large cookie sheet with sides for transport. Thank you

      2. Hi Misty! This built on our 24×18-inch board and would feed about 10-12 people. I love the idea of building it on a sheet pan for easy transporting and serving. I would say you could fill an 18×13-inch sheet pan with enough breads and fillings to feed 6-8 people. Hope this helps and that everyone enjoys!

  3. Maegan : LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ! ! This photograph of the sandwich board ! ! Stellar ! ! Couldn’t have done it better if I had done it myself, as the saying goes ! ! So colorful and we’ll arranged. Inspiring ! ! AND would be easy as the meat, cheese, bread, pickles, etc. come pre-cut. I will try this for a lunch time. Thank you for your creative efforts ! !
