What Do I Need to Make Oven-Fried Broccoli?

Quick Tip: Fresh is Best

For this recipe, I would not recommend using frozen broccoli florets. Frozen broccoli would become mushy once defrosted and drained. Even when you roast frozen broccoli at high temperatures, you’ll never quite get it crisp.

Also, the coating won’t stick if the broccoli frozen. You’ll miss out on all that delicious seasoning. So for this recipe, fresh is best.

How to Make Oven Fried Broccoli

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Put the broccoli florets in a large resealable plastic bag. Add the melted butter to the bag, seal and shake to coat the broccoli evenly in the butter.
  • Add the bread crumbs, grated parmesan and garlic salt to the bag, seal and toss the broccoli florets again until they are coated evenly in the dry ingredients.

    1. Hi Bobby! I’ve never had an issue with the melted butter affecting the plastic bag. With the broccoli already in the bag, the butter is drizzled over the broccoli so it’s not sitting directly in the bag. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Mary! Yes, but I would recommend storing it in the refrigerator loosely covered so the broccoli doesn’t absorb too much moisture and will crisp up again when reheated. Enjoy!

  1. I love crispy oven-fried broccoli recipe and this dish is the only way I can convince my husband to eat broccoli :). Any others dishes with broccoli that are easy to make?

  2. This could be the best way to convince my kids to eat broccoli but I’m not entirely convinced of aluminum foil cooking – are you sure about that?

    1. Hi Elizabeth! You can certainly bake the broccoli without using foil. I hope you and your kids love it as much as we do!
